Description
White Moonflower (Datura Inoxia) plant is considered a tropical perennial and easy to grow. It has huge thick trumpet shaped white blooms that are 6"-8" in diameter and they smell sweet. The bloom will start opening before dark and opens up more as the evening goes on-it is so exciting to see it slowly open. It takes several hours for the bloom to fully open! It will close the next day before noon.
Each bloom will only open 1 time before it falls off to start making the seed pod. The seed pod is round with prickly spikes all around it which can get the size of a golf ball. When the seed pod is matured it will split at the bottom and the seeds will start falling out.
It is called a night blooming plant and can get up to 2 1/2' tall and has big leaves.
