Welcome to World Plant Exchange!

The site was launched May 30, 2005. As you'll notice there aren't many submissions or members yet, but there will be :)! Please tell your friends about us and help WPE grow! Since WPE is new it is likely that there will be some hidden bugs around the site, but don't be discouraged, they will be fixed and I'd be very grateful if you would report them. Suggestions are welcomed. Thank you :)

What is World Plant Exchange?

World Plant Exchange is a place where people from all around the world can share plants and seeds of all types and from many locations. At World Plant Exchange you may find hard to find plants and seeds or any other type of plant or seed you may be looking for. If you can't find it you may request it and somebody else may offer them to you. You may also offer plants or seeds to share with other people whether you want anything in return or not.

Are there other seed and plant exchange sites?

There are forums that may have a section or two for trading plants or seeds in a specific state or country, but none of these provide the specially designed tools and features that World Plant Exchange offers and none that I am aware, were designed specifically for trading plants and seeds for people anywhere in the world.

World Plant Exchange features

World Plant Exchange allows you to submit offers and requests for plants and seeds to be viewed by other people from around the world. You may use the simple form to add an offer or request quickly, or the advanced form to customize your submission, making it easier and more accurate for other people to search for what they're looking for.

Communicate easily with other users using the private messaging system.

The Sent and Received offers screens make it easy to keep track of offers to and sent by you.

Users may track and update the status of their trades with the 'My Trades' feature.

Users may be rated by the people they trade with so that others will know whether or not the person they're trading with is a reliable trader.

You may add your submissions to your profile so that other users may see your offers and requests more easily.

The advanced search functionality allows you to search for seeds, bulbs, cuttings, and plants by a variety of characteristics. Submissions may be searched for by common name, binomial nomenclature, color, type of plant, location, difficulty in growing, uses, and description. So, whether you would like to grow an all blue flower garden, grow plants from South America or start a medicinal herb or vegetable garden, the World Plant Exchange community can help.
